Health Surveillance

Health Surveillance is mandatory for firms who expose their staff to hazards such as noise, respiratory & skin sensitisers and HAVS.

Health Surveillance

Health Surveillance can be daunting, however the team at Turners OH help our clients with a step-by-step approach with the aim of getting to know the business and what employees are exposed to. We use a secure software system to store confidential employees’ information and this also enables us to deliver fitness certificates within 12 hours after the assessments. We have built up a loyal customer base in East Anglia through our personal and professional approach, helping businesses meet their specific needs.

Health Surveillance

Why Health Surveillance Is Important?

  • Detecting ill-health effects at an early stage, so employers can introduce better controls to prevent these effects getting worse.

  • Providing data to help employers evaluate health risks.

  • Enabling employees to raise concerns about how work affects their health.

  • Highlighting lapses in workplace control measures, therefore providing invaluable feedback to the risk assessment process.

  • Providing an opportunity to reinforce training and education of employees (E.g. On the impact of health effects and the use of protective equipment in the workplace).

How Can Turners Help Your Business?

Turner's Occupational Health & Wellbeing Services offer a comprehensive range of flexible, cost effective health surveillance programmes. Each one is created as a bespoke package around your company’s needs.

We spend time to create a package to suit each job role within your organisation.

Assessments are carried out by fully-qualified Occupational Health clinicians at your location and are planned to create minimal disruption for your employees and your business.

Noise Health Surveillance

The Control of Noise at Work Regulations require businesses to take action at certain levels of noise exposure. These relate to the levels of exposure averaged over a working day or week and the maximum noise (peak sound pressure) which employees are exposed to in a working day.

Turner's Occupational Health & Wellbeing Services can advise you regarding a suitable programme to protect your employees. We provide suitably qualified and experienced staff to carry out the work. This team will then provide you with reports on your employees' fitness to continue work with noise exposure.

Respiratory Sensitisers

Occupational Asthma is a major Occupational Health problem, however if detected early enough and exposure is reduced, the employees risk of developing full-blown asthma will be reduced.

Main causes:

  • Isocyanates flour dust, grain dust, Glutaraldehyde wood dust, Latex rosin-cored solder fumes and laboratory animal glues and resins.

  • Businesses associated with Occupational Asthma

  • Bakeries, food processors, beauty services, cleaning services, healthcare services, painters, repairs - including electronics, welders and woodworkers - including forestry.

Skin Sensitisers

Work-related skin disease (e.g. Dermatitis) can affect people in a wide range of occupations.

Wherever you work, this site shows how the APC approach (Avoid, Protect, Check) can reduce the chances of suffering painful and sometimes debilitating skin conditions.

Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) Assessments

Hand Arm Vibration can be a significant health risk wherever powered hand tools are used for significant lengths of time.

This is especially so in foundries, construction and heavy fabrication - including ship building.

Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) is preventable, but once the damage is done it is permanent. HAVS is extremely serious and can be disabling. It’s worth investigating as nearly 2 million people are at risk.
